The Jeker quarter is a vibrant area surrounded by the city park and the old city walls dating back to the 12th century. The river Jeker meanders both below and above the ground through the neighborhood. This creative district has a welcoming atmosphere and serves as a meeting place for artists and students. It also houses many art galleries, cafes and fine restaurants. Bisected by the old city wall, lit by old street lamps and paved with cobblestone streets, you will find yourself in a medieval scene. With its rich history the Jeker quarter exudes the tranquility of a village and the district is therefore often referred to as the Latin Quarter of Maastricht.
